About this course:

Any dog who pulls on its leash, whether a puppy or adult, can be a danger to its owner and itself: many people experience injuries such as shoulder and back strains, or even being knocked to the ground when their dogs pull. Likewise, dogs can suffer neck, back and shoulder injuries.

This 4-week webinar series uses positive reinforcement and clicker training as the foundation for good leash skills development.

Good leash manners allow handlers and dogs to participate in activities together and build great relationships when taught using methods that reflect the relationship between dog and handler: we do not use prong collars or chain collars in this class due to the dangers these collars present.

Date: Mondays and Thursdays for 4 weeks beginning Jun. 15, 2020 (8 classes in total)

Time: 12:30 p.m. (60-minute classes)

Requirements: 6 foot (or 2 metre) leash*, food treats, dog toys and clicker (optional)

Resources:

  • Post-class recordings are available
  • Classes are supported by written materials and group chat

*Clients may be advised to use a different collar, head halter or harness, but all students will be able to start the work on a flat buckle collar.
